Women's Volleyball Remains Undefeated
ROCHESTER, NY – For the second weekend in a row, the Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team went undefeated this time at the University of Rochester Tournament. The Lions defeated Skidmore 3-1 and St. John Fisher 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (8-0) took Skidmore in four games (25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 25-14) and then downed St. John Fisher (25-23, 25-17, 29-27). Alyssa Samarco (Plum, PA/Plum) was named to the All-Tournament team for the second time this season. She posted 31 kills and 25 digs on day two alone.

Against Skidmore, Samarco led with 18 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward), who also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team, paced the team with 33 assists and 10 digs, while Allania Banta (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) added 15 digs.

In the second match, three players had double-digit kills led by Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) with 14 kills, eight assists and five digs. Samarco and Paige Scurpa (Sharpsville, PA/Sharpsville) each had a double-double. Samarco had 13 kills and 14 digs, and Scurpa contributed 13 kills and 11 digs.

Saunders ended the great weekend with 43 assists against St. John Fisher.

Behrend is off to its best start since 2006 with eight straight wins.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday for their home opener against Hiram. Match time is 7 p.m.
