ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team remains undefeated in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) with a 3-1 win over Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon.

Setter Kristi Batzel tallied 39 assists and nine digs for the Lions (13-12, 7-0 AMCC), who won in four sets 25-21, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-16. Becky Britton helped with 18 digs, 10 kills, two blocks and two assists.

For the Behrend Lions (17-10, 4-3 AMCC) were led by Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) with 13 kills, 11 digs, two assists, two aces and two blocks.

The Altoona Lions trailed in the first two sets early on. The fought back to win the first set 25-21, but Behrend held off the Lions in the second to even the match at 1-all. With the score tied at 12-all, Behrend got three straight kills to force an Altoona timeout. Altoona Lions got within one on two occasions but a pair of kills by Snyder and an ace by Alyssa Samarco (Plum, PA/Plum) secured a 25-21 Behrend set-two victory.

In a third set that had five ties, Altoona got a kill from Kaylin Dunn and Moira Corrigan for the final two points to go ahead 2-1 with a 25-23 win. The Altoona Lions made the fourth set a quick one, jumping out to 17-8 lead. Amanda Hammer recorded three kills including one to get Altoona to match point at 24-16. The Altoona Lions took advantage of an attack error for the match at 25-16.

Samarco finished with 13 kills and 14 digs, while Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) handed out 37 assists.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday against D'Youville. Match begins at 7 p.m.
