Bethany Too Much For Lions in ECAC South Region Tournament

BETHANY, W. Va. – No. 4 Bethany women's volleyball team, the four-time defending ECAC Champions, defeated fifth seed Penn State Behrend 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-20) in the first round of the ECAC South Region Tournament on Wednesday night.

Dylana McKenzie led with 13 kills, while Dakota McKenzie added 12 kills and Mackenzie Lauber dished out 40 assists for the Bison (26-13). The Lions (19-13) got eight kills and three digs from Alyssa Samarco (Plum, PA/Plum) and 10 digs from Courtney Hopson (Erie, PA/McDowell).

Bethany hit 17-for-26 with just one error for a .615 attack percentage in the first set to win by 12 points. The Bison recorded the same amount of kills in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-15 victory.

Behrend was able to get 11 kills in the third set, but Bethany managed to fend off the Lions with a 25-20 win for the match.

Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) tallied seven kills on 19 attempts with seven assists and four blocks. Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) handed out 15 assists.
