Women's Vollyeball Sweeps New Rochelle

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team swept New Rochelle 3-0 on the first day of the Union Tournament on Friday night.

The Lions (12-9) won in three sets at 25-16, 25-19 and 25-21 for the non-conference victory. Behrend had 11 different players record a kill, led by Kylie McSwaney's (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) team-best seven kills and four blocks.

As a team, the Lions recorded 13 kills in the first set, nine in the second and 15 kills in the third with only two errors.

Amanda Henry (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) added six kills, while three other players added five kills each. Courtney Hopson (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Ashley Solo (Irwin, PA/Penn-Trafford) each registered 12 digs.

Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) added 18 assists on 27 kills and Lexi Irwin (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) tallied seven assists in the win.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Skidmore and Union. Matches begin at 1 p.m.
