Lions Finish Day Two of Scranton Invitational; Saunders Named All-Tournament Team

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team completed day two of the Scranton Invitational with a 3-1 win over Bard and a five-set loss to Wentworth on Saturday morning.
Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Lions (2-2). In the two matches today, she combined for 41 assists, 25 digs, eight kills and eight blocks.
In the first match against Bard, Behrend won 25-17, 25-12, 24-26 and 25-21. Saunders had 20 assists, eight digs, six kills and six blocks. Amanda Henry (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) posted a double-double with 12 digs and 10 kills, while freshman Alexandra Parra (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin) added six blocks.
The Lions took the first set from Wentworth 25-23 to start the second match. Wentworth on the next two 25-22, 25-20, before the Lions made it 2-2 with a 25-19 win. Behrend fell in the fifth set, 15-6. Julie Pace (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) had a team-best 21 digs and Henry continued her performance with 11 digs, eight kills and three aces.
Meredith Sndyer (Parker, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) registered 15 digs and six kills, and Rachel Frye (Leechburg, PA/Kiski) led with nine kills against Wentworth.
Behrend returns to action on Wednesday at Baldwin Wallace. Match begins at 7 p.m.
