GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel women's volleyball team won their home opener with a 3-2 win over Penn State Behrend in non-conference action on Thursday night.
The Lions (3-7) dropped their second five-set match this season, winning the second (27-25) and fourth set (25-23) before falling the fifth (15-11). The Tomcats (7-4) just edged Behrend in the first set 25-23 and went extra points in the third (28-26).
Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) had a triple-double with 20 digs, 18 assists and 10 kills for the Lions.
Rachel Frye (Leechburg, PA/Kiski) posted a team-best 17 kills, while Madison Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) added 27 digs.
Behrend returns to action on Monday against Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m.
