The senior setter is now four assists away from moving into fourth place on the all-time list.

The Spartans won six of the last seven points in the first set to turn a four-point lead into the set victory at 25-16. Behrend relinquished the lead they built to start the second set, falling behind one point at 10-9. With a pair of aces from Amanda Henry (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) and a two kills apiece from Archer and Frye, the Lions pulled ahead 18-13 and stayed out front for a 25-20 win.

D'Youville took advantage of a few Behrend errors down the stretch in set three to regain the lead in the match with a 25-23 decision. A 12-3 advantage in the fourth set aided the Lions to stay alive for the decisive fifth set.

The Spartans used an 8-2 run including three points by aces to break the 7-all tie in the fifth set for a 15-9 victory and the match.

Madison Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) was one of five Behrend players with double-digit digs, recording a match-high 20.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at La Roche along with Pitt-Greensburg. Matches start at 1 p.m.
