ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play with a pair of wins in the Junker Center on Saturday afternoon.

Penn State Behrend (6-8, 1-0 AMCC), Penn State Altoona (3-8, 0-1 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Behrend held Altoona to just for kills in the first set for a quick 25-21 win
* The next three sets went into extra points, two of which were in the Behrend Lions favor
* In the second set, the Behrend Lions were leading until Altoona got a kill from Alexis Cannistraci to go ahead 16-15
* Behrend fought back and tied the match three times, before getting the final two points on a Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy) kills and an error by Altoona to take a 2-0 lead in the match
* Alex Parra (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin) tallied six of the team's 16 kills, but the Altoona Lions rattled off 18 kills including one by Lydia Mock to capture the third set, 31-29
* Reiland and Parra combined for 11 kills to help Behrend defeated Altoona 28-26 in the fourth
* Keely Hering (North East, PA/North East) had one of her three aces at match point to secure the win
* Parra, Reiland and Hering finished with double-digit kills. Reiland led with 18 and added 10 digs for a double-double
* Parra posted a career-high 15 kills, while Madison Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) recorded a match-high 28 digs
* Dani Kosslow (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) also had a career day with 48 assists to go with 13 digs and six services aces

Key Moments:

* Behrend hit a season-high .364 thanks to double-digit kills in each set (14, 12 12)
* The Barons only tallied 12 kills in the entire match
* Parra registered a .500 hitting percentage with nine kills on 16 attempts
* Hering matched nine kills to go along with a team-best 10 digs
* Kosslow added 30 assists for a total of 78
* Reiland collected nine digs, eight kills, three aces and two blocks
* The Lions did not let Franciscan compete in any set to go undefeated on the day
