Women's Volleyball Hosts Behrend Invitational This Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team will host the 2021 Behrend Invitational in the Junker Center on Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11.

Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions are 4-0 to start the season and have not given up a set point
* Behrend blanked SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Canton and Alfred over the weekend
* Cara Zollars (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) was named the AMCC Defensive Athlete of the Week
* Zollars registered 47 digs (4.70 average), six assists and five aces in four matches. She posted double-digit digs in three of the four matches, including a team-best 20 digs in a 3-0 win over Thiel in the opener
* Keely Hering (North East, PA/North East) was instrumental in the 4-0 week, averaging 2.3 kills and 2.4 digs per set. She tallied her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs vs. Potsdam
* Dani Kosslow (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) is averaging 6.18 assists per set, dishing out 68 so far this season

Meet the Opposition:

* John Carroll is 2-3 overall. The Blue Streaks went 1-3 at the Case Western Reserve Tournament last weekend. John Carroll's wins were a 3-1 victory over Wooster and 3-2 decision against Bethany
* Bluffton is also 2-3 on the season. The Beavers are coming off a 3-2 loss to Adrian on Wednesday. DS Brooke Kleman leads the team with 61 digs and six service aces
* Baldwin Wallace enters the weekend with a 3-3 record. The Yellow Jackets recently defeated Thiel 3-0 on Tuesday night. Baldwin Wallace has a 3-1 win over Franciscan and a 3-2 victory against Geneseo
* Westminster is on a five-match winning streak. The Titans won all four matches 3-0 at the St. Vincent Invitational last weekend. Westminster opened the season with a 3-1 victory against Allegheny.
