Behrend Women's Volleyball Takes Down Pitt-Greensburg, Oberlin

The Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team won a pair of matches this afternoon in the Junker Center. The Lions first defeated Pitt-Greensburg 3-0 before posting a 3-1 win over non-conference Oberlin.

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team won a pair of matches this afternoon in the Junker Center. The Lions first defeated Pitt-Greensburg 3-0 before posting a 3-1 win over non-conference Oberlin.

Match One:
Final Score: Behrend 3, Pitt-Greensburg (25-9, 25-13, 25-11)
Records: Penn State Behrend (9-4, 1-0 AMCC), Pitt-Greensburg (1-11, 0-1 AMCC)

Match One:

* Behrend earned its first conference win of the season
* The Lions held the Bobcats to just 12 kills, including three in the first set
* Dani Kosslow (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) opened the first set serving 15 straight points and Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria) ended the set on a service ace at 25-9
* Behrend handedly won the second and third sets for the sweep
* The Lions had a season-low five errors and hit a season-high .380
* Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry) led with eight kills and Maddie Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) tallied 16 digs

Final Score: Behrend 3, Oberlin 1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 25-17)
Records: Penn State Behrend (10-4), Oberlin (8-5)

Match Two:

* Behrend had its second-highest offensive output this season with 52 kills
* Five different players had double-digit digs and three had double-digit kills
* The Lions were led by Reiland with 15 kills (.406 hitting percentage) and six blocks
* Joncas had a team-best six service aces
* Kosslow recorded a season-high 38 assists to finish with 57 assists on the day
* Behrend tallied a 25-20 first set win and led 8-1 in the second, but the Yeowomen fought back to win by two at 26-24 to even the match
* The Lions trailed 12-11 in the third but won four straight points to take the lead for good on Joncas' serve and Sarah Cole (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) got set point with a kill at 25-20
* Down early again in the fourth, Behrend rallied back and broke a 13-all tie to take the lead for good on kills from Keely Hering (North East, PA/North East), Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) and Reiland
