Women's Volleyball Announces Team Awards

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team announced their team awards for the 2021 season. The Lions were named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) regular-season champions and captured the 2021 AMCC Championship, while advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Senior middle hitter Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy) was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Reiland is coming off AMCC Player of the Year accolades and All-Tournament team honors. She also landed on the All-AMCC first team. Reiland ranked 12th in NCAA Division III statistics in hitting percentage (.396) and paced the team with 273 kills and 3.17 kills per set. She was second on the team in digs (170) and in blocks (65).

Earning the team's Most Improved Award was senior defensive specialist Ellec Scouten (McKean, PA/General McLane). Scouten saw time in 27 matches this season, recording 115 digs, 13 assists and five service aces. She tallied double-digit kills on two occasions, posting a career-high 16 in a 3-1 win over Kean.

Freshman Ava Miller (Sheffield Village, OH/Brookside) was named the team's Rookie of the Year. Miller saw time in seven matches at the defensive specialist position. The newcomer tallied 10 digs and two service aces.

Graduate student libero Maddie Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) was awarded the Scholarship/Leadership award. Clapper was named to the All-AMCC first team and to the All-Tournament team this season. She led the team with 387 digs, nearly reaching the 2,000 mark for her career with 1,961. Clapper played in 27 matches and averaged 4.45 digs per set.
