Behrend Women's Volleyball Shuts Out Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team won its final regular-season road game of the season Saturday, defeating Pitt-Greenburg in three sets: 25-20, 25-17, and 25-15.

The Lions, who entered play tied for fourth in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), improved to 11-12 overall and to 3-2 in the conference. Pitt-Greensburg dropped its 19th straight contest in a 1-19 season and fell to 0-5 in the AMCC. The Lions jumped to an early lead in the first set, one they would not relinquish, before prevailing 25-20. They got better in each subsequent set, winning 25-17 and 25-15. It was the seventh shutout of the year for the Lions, second straight, and the 14th time the Bobcats have been blanked. Senior Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry) led the Lions with 11 kills, junior Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) recorded 25 assists, senior Kelli Hoffer (DuBois, PA/DuBois) collected 16 digs and junior Sara Novak (Lower Burrell, PA/Burrell) chipped in with three service aces.  Behrend will conclude the regular season with home matches against Pitt-Bradford Wednesday and Mt. Aloysius Saturday.
