Behrend Women's Volleyball Advances to ECAC Semifinals; Lions Defeat Grove City

NEW JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team defeated Grove City 3-1 in the first round of the 2022 ECAC Championships hosted by New Jersey City. The Lions will face Cabrini in the semifinals on Sunday.

Key Moments:

* The Lions avenged a five-set loss earlier this season to the Wolverines by winning in extra points in the three sets
* Behrend won the first two sets and erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth to keep its season alive
* Down 24-18, the Lions won eight straight points to secure the win
* Behrend had five players with double-digit digs
* Th Lions registered 96 digs, the most in a four-set match and a season-high 16 service aces
* Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) led with 17 kills and added a career-high 24 digs for the double-double
* Kelli Hoffer (DuBois, PA/DuBois) posted a career-high 24 digs and five aces, while Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) collected a double-double with 44 assists and 17 digs
* Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry) added 13 kills
* Sara Novak (Lower Burrell, PA/Burrell) also had five services aces, including two in her eight serves to close out the match in the fourth set
* Phillips was instrumental in getting the final points in the first and third set, while Breana Reynolds (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) knocked down the kill for the 26^th point in the second
