Women's Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award
The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team has earned the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT. The Lions have received this honor for seven consecutive seasons and nine times overall in program history.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team has earned the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT. The Lions have received this honor for seven consecutive seasons and nine times overall in program history.
Last season, the Lions advanced to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship Tournament and competed in the ECAC Tournament. Behrend had three players named to the All-AMCC squad, including Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny), Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) and Breana Reynolds (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley).
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
