Behrend Women's Volleyball Defeats Oswego; Falls to Brockport

OSWEGO, NY – The Behrend women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the Oswego Invitational. The Lions defeated the hosts in five sets and then fell to Brockport in the second match on Saturday afternoon.  

Match One:
Final Score: Behrend 3, Oswego 2 (27-25, 25-17, 20-25, 23-25, 15-11)
Records: Penn State Behrend (4-10), Oswego (6-6)

Key Moments:

* Two players had double-doubles to help the Lions collect their second straight win
* Cadence Jones (North East, PA/North East) and Brynne Smith (Butler, PA/Knoch) had the double-doubles
* Jones led with 18 kills and added 11 digs, while Smith posted 29 assists and 10 digs to go with five aces
* Behrend had a 2-0 lead in the match before Oswego edged the Lions in the next two sets to force a fifth
* Libero Sara Nobach (Athens, MI/Athens) led with 16 digs
* The Lions tallied 40 kills and hit .188, committing 14 errors over five sets and forcing 42 Oswego attack errors
* Behrend also had 18 block assists led by Hannah Smith (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek)

Match Two:
Final Score: Brockport 3, Behrend 0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-15)
Records: Penn State Behrend (4-11), Brockport (7-5)

Key Moments:

* Down by 11 in the first set, the Lions rallied within six before falling by seven at 25-18
* The second set was closer than the first with Brockport holding a 21-19 lead
* The Eagles won the next four out of five points to take a 2-0 lead
* The third set resembled the first set with Brockport jumping out to a double-digit lead
* Jones registered 15 kills and Nobach pitched in 15 digs
* B. Smith handed out 21 assists
