Jenna Zeyfang Named Women's Varsity Division III Defensive Player of the Week

Jenna Zeyfang (Erie/Erie First Academy) was recently named the women's varsity Division III defensive player of the week for her efforts at the CWPA Regional Tournament in recording two overtime victories against Utica College and Chatham University.

Zeyfang recorded victories in back-to-back overtime games against the Utica Pioneers and the Chatham Cougars to help the Behrend Lions clinch the No. 7 seed for the 2010 CWPA Division III Championship and earn this tremendous defensive player of the week award.

Following the games against Washington and Jefferson, Grove City and Connecticut College, she posted nine saves and three steals as the blue and white rallied to knock off Utica 7-6 in overtime.  Zeyfang went on to add 12 saves in a 9-8 overtime defeat of Chatham as the Behrend Lions capped off the CWPA Regional Tournament with two straight victories.

"Jenna has worked very hard for the last four years and to be selected for Defensive Player of the Week is rightfully due," said Head Coach Joe Tristan.  "We have not had a CWPA player of week selection since 2004 and no men have ever been selected.  "It is a great honor to have Jenna a part of our team."

The Behrend women's water polo team will host these same Chatham Cougars at the Junker Center Pool on Saturday, April 17.  The blue and white will then travel to the CWPA Division III Championships starting on Friday, April 23 and continuing until Saturday, April 24.
