Lions Fall To W&J and Connecticut

GROVE CITY, Pa. –The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team played two more games at Grove City, Saturday. The Lions (0-4) fell to Connecticut, 12-7 and Washington & Jefferson, 19-3 in back-to-back games.

Mary Ellen Spooner continued her offensive attack netting four goals against the Camels.

Behrend fell behind early against Connecticut allowing eight goals in the first two quarters. The women held the Camels to only one goal in the third but could not rally back, falling 12-7.

Hilary MacManus put up two goals and Paula Rusca chipped in with one against a tough Connecticut squad.

In the second matchup against W & J, Kendall Duffy connected twice and Anne Lawrence once in the 19-3 loss to W&J. Elizabeth Causgrove had a wonderful game in between the pipes blocking 10 attempts.

The women will return to the water on March 6 at 12 p.m. to face Chatham.
