ERIE, Pa.  – Sophomore MaryEllen Spooner has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Women's Varsity Division III Player of the Week, announced today.

Spooner scored nine goals, grabbed seven steals and drew four kickouts in three games at the Behrend Invitational last weekend.  Against Notre Dame, she tied the Lions' program record for most goals in a game with six.  Overall, she registered a first period hat-trick against the Falcons, before chipping in a solo marker in the second period and a pair in the third to account for two-thirds of the Behrend Lions' offense against Notre Dame.

Spooner leads the team with 19 goals and 25 steals in 12 games.

The Lions return to action Saturday against Mercyhurst at Grove City. Game time is 10:30 a.m.
