Spooner Breaks Program Record

GROVE CITY, Pa.  – Sophomore MaryEllen Spooner scored 11 goals for the Penn State Behrend women's water polo team, netting a program- record nine goals against Notre Dame and adding two more against Mercyhurst.

The Lions fell 9-3 to Mercyhurst in the opening game and dropped a 15-9 decision to Notre Dame in the nightcap.  Spooner, the current Collegiate Water Polo Association Women's Varsity Division III Player of the Week, also caused five drawn ejections and five steals against Notre Dame. In the last match against Notre Dame last weekend, she tied the school record with six goals only to break it today.

Freshman Rachael Ragen scored against Mercyhurst, while Elizabeth Causgrove tallied seven saves against Notre Dame.

Behrend returns to action on April 15 against Washington & Jefferson. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
