Zeyfang, Spooner Earn All-America Honors

Erie, Pa. – Senior Jenna Zeyfang and freshman MaryEllen Spooner became the first-ever Penn State Behrend women’s water polo players to earn All-American status in the 10-year history of the program announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

Zeyfang was tabbed honorable mention at goalie and Spooner was also named an honorable mention at the two-meter position.

Zeyfang caps her four-year career with her first All-America nod. She was named the 2010 Team MVP after producing her best season in between the pipes. Zeyfang played in all 28 games and made 159 saves, the second-highest saves total in a season.  She ranks second all-time with 378 career saves.

Spooner led the team with 25 goals and ranked second in assists with 14 in her debut season. She also made 50 steals and converted six penalty shots. Spooner, the Team Rookie of the Year, had a season-best three goals against Washington & Jefferson.
