Day Two Results of CWPA Region One Tournament

WHEATON, IL - The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team had three games on Saturday at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Region One Tournament.

In game one, the Lions fell to Carthage 16-7.  After a tight first quarter, the Lady Reds outscored Behrend 10-4 in the second and third quarters to take command. Lindsay Musoleno (Hatfield, PA/North Penn) led the offense with four goals. MaryEllen Spooner (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) contributed three goals.

In their second game of the day, Connecticut College jumped out to a 12-0 first half lead and never looked back, leading to a 16-4 victory.  The Lions tied the Camels with three goals in the fourth quarter but it was not enough.  Spooner added two more goals with Paula Rusca (Chicago, IL/Whitney Young) and Musoleno adding one apiece.

With one game left, Behrend once again got behind early and could not overcome a strong first half by Wheaton.  The Lions were only able to put up three goals in the 14-3 loss. Musoleno continued to play well with two more goals.  Rusca added another for Behrend in the defeat.

The Lions will be back in action on Tuesday at Notre Dame College.
