Utica Defeats Lions; Behrend Claims Ninth at Division III Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. - In their final game of the season, the Penn State Behrend women's water polo team fell to Utica 14-9 at the Division III Championships.
The Lions (0-21) claimed ninth for the second consecutive season.
Utica jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and pushed it to 9-5 at the break. The strong first half was the difference with Behrend tying the Pioneers 5-5 in the second half.
MaryEllen Spooner (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) led the way with her second straight hat-trick. Paula Rusca (Chicago, IL/Whitney Young), Lindsay Musoleno (Hatfield, PA/North Penn), and Emily Spicher (Falls Creek, PA/DuBois) each added two goals for Behrend.
The Lions' defense was once again led by Elizabeth Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) between the pipes. Causgrove recorded 11 saves.
