ERIE, Pa. - The Grove City women's water polo team scored early and kept the lead to defeat Penn State Behrend 7-1 in the Junker Center Pool on Thursday night.

Amanda Johnston and Jocelyn Hinkle each tallied two goals for the Wolverines, who are currently ranked No. 1 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III poll.

MaryEllen Spooner (Sprinfield, VA/West Springfield) was able to get the Lions (0-4) on the board in the third quarter with the lone goal.

Grove City scored four goals in the first quarter, one in the third and Johnston netted the final two in the fourth for the victory.

Behrend returns to action next Friday against Connecticut College for the first day of the CWPA Regionals, beginning at 12 p.m.
