Lions Downed by Connecticut College, Macalester

UTICA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team dropped two games on Friday at the CWPA Regional Tournament.

In the opener, the Lions fell to Connecticut College, 22-6.

Mary Therese Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) scored four times for Behrend, who entered the game coming off their first victory of the season.

Marissa Duvall (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) and Breanne Martinez (La Mirada, CA/St. Joseph) added goals for the Lions, who fell to 1-7 thus far in 2014.

Freshman goalie Kara Stegmann (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) made 11 saves in the loss for Behrend.

Ashley Amey scored 11 times for Connecticut in the victory.

The second game saw Macalester trip up the Lions by a 10-4 score.

Brittany Pinter (Erie, PA/McDowell) scored all four goals for Behrend, and Stegmann made 12 saves in net.

Sarah Shoemaker and Rachel Harrington-Abrams led the Scots with three goals each.

The Lions (1-8) will continue their stay at the CWPA Regional Tournament in Utica on Saturday, March 15 when they take on Monmouth at 10:15 a.m. and Utica at 7 p.m.
