Pinter's Five Goals Lead Lions Past Monmouth

UTICA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team defeated Monmouth by a 14-8 score on Saturday morning at the CWPA Regional Tournament.

Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley) any Brittany Pinter (Erie, PA/McDowell) struck in the opening period for the Lions, giving Behrend a 2-1 lead after one.

The Lions maintained their one-goal advantage heading into halftime following two second quarter goals by Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) and one more by Pinter.

Behrend increased its lead in the third quarter as Breanne Martinez (La Mirada, CA/St. Joseph) scored twice and Marissa Duvall (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe), Hannah Kelly (Elizabeth, PA/South Allegheny), and Pinter each added one goal.

Leading 10-7 heading into the fourth, Pinter scored twice more in the final period with Mary Therese Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Martinez scoring once to cement a 14-8 Lions victory.

Pinter finished with five goals for Behrend, and Martinez added three.

The Lions' Saturday afternoon matchup with Utica was postponed. Behrend is scheduled to take on Carthage on Sunday, March 16 at 2 p.m. Details to follow.
