Lions Fall in Season Opener

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team dropped their season opener to Notre Dame Tuesday night by a score of 16-3.

Notre Dame (1-5) came out strong in the first quarter scoring the first four goals of the game. With 1:37 left in the first freshman Taylor Reed (York, PA/Central York) notched the first goal of her career to get the Lions (0-1) on the board.

Notre Dame's defense stood tall in the second quarter holding Behrend scoreless and propelled the Falcons to the locker room with a 9-1 lead at halftime.

Brittany Pinter (Erie, PA/McDowell) netted the first goal of the third quarter at the 4:24 mark cutting into the Notre Dame lead.

The Falcons added four goals in the third and three more goals in the fourth quarter to take the season-opener from the Lions. Freshman Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) earned the first goal of her career scoring with 4:32 left to play in the fourth quarter.

The Lions have an 11-day layoff before hitting the road to take on Grove City and Washington and Jefferson on March 7. Behrend will play Grove City at 11 a.m. and will follow with Washington and Jefferson at 4:30 p.m.
