Lions Fall Twice on Saturday

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team dropped a pair of contests Saturday to Grove City and Washington and Jefferson. Grove City defeated the Lions 17-5 while Washington and Jefferson was on the winning side of a 15-2 game.

Brittany Pinter (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Mary Therese Causgrove led the Lions (0-3) on the day with two goals apiece. Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) and Kaitlyn Conely, (Exeter, CA/Exeter) also added goals. Conely' goal was the first of her career.

Kara Stegmann (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) backboned the Lions defense recording 19 saves.

In the first game of the day, Grove City jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the first quarter and added four second period goals to take a 10-2 advantage at halftime. Behrend netted three second half goals, but could not hold off the Grove City offensive.

Washington and Jefferson took an early 9-0 lead after the first quarter in the second leg of the day's double-header. The President's added another goal in the second, commanding a 10-0 lead at halftime. The Lions netted two goals in the second half, but were too far behind to stage a successful comeback.

The Lions have a rare chance to rematch these two squads tomorrow at home. Behrend will take on Grove City at 11 a.m. and then gear up for a 3 p.m. duel against Washington and Jefferson.
