Women's Water Polo Knocks Off Caltech, 19-4

PASADENA, Ca. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team picked up their first victory of the season knocking off Caltech 19-4 in Pasadena, California.

The Lions (1-5) exploded for 19 goals including eight in the first quarter. Mary Therese Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) scored a season-high four goals leading Behrend in the blowout victory.

Ten Lions netted goals in the game while six scored multiple goals. Freshman Kaitlyn Conely scored a career high three goals while Maryn Horn, (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) Rayni Modecki, (Carnegie, PA/Chartiers Valley) Brittany Pinter (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Breanne Martinez (La Mirada, CA/St. Joseph) all scored twice.

Behrend led at the half for the first time this season holding a 9-2 advantage. The Lions notched five goals in the third and fourth quarters to seal the victory.

Kara Stegmann (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) allowed a season-low two goals and made 14 saves. Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley), Taylor Reed, (York, PA/Central York) Sarah Jelinek (Warren, PA / Warren) and Allie Schneider (Erie, PA / McDowell) all scored a goal apiece.

The Lions continue their California road trip tomorrow with an 8 p.m. match-up with La Verne.
