Women's Water Polo Falls to La Verne

LA VERNE, Ca. — Four different Lions registered goals in Penn State Behrend women's water polo's 18-4 loss to La Verne Monday afternoon.

The Leopards (7-2) started the game scoring the first three goals before Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) tallied her sixth goal of the season to put the Behrend (0-5) in the game.

La Verne scored another three goals before Lauren Wood (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) notched her first of the season to stop the Leopard run.

Through the rest of the second quarter and halfway through the third, La Verne scored seven straight goals to take a 13-2 advantage. The Lions would keep their heads in the game however, getting back-to-back goals from Brittany Pinter (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Mary Therese Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) to end the third quarter.

Behrend was unable to find the back of the net in the fourth while the Leopards added five more to the scoresheet. Kara Stegman (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area), like her second game Saturday, made 11 saves in net.

The Lions finish their California road trip against Cal Tech tomorrow with a 7 p.m. EST (4 p.m. PST) start.
