Wood and Rios Break School Records; Behrend Falls to Connecticut and Take Down Utica

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team competed in first day the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Regional 2 on Friday at Grove City.

Game 1

* In the first game, the Lions fell to Connecticut, 14-13 in double overtime
* Lauren Wood (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) broke the school record for goals in a season with her two goals against the Camels making her total 55 for the year
* Christine Williams held the previous record in 2003
* Daniella Rios (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico / Sagrados Corazones) tallied three assists, totaling 33 this season, holding the school record for assists in a season, previously held by Brittany Pinter in 2016 
* Clare Jefferys (Erie, PA/Villa Maria) led the Lions offense with four goals, and one assist
* Following Jeffreys was Alison McClure (Loveland, OH/Milford) with three goals, three assists, and two steals
* Wood chipped in two goals, two assists, and three steals
* In goals, Mackenzie Robie (Girard, PA/Girard) finished with ten saves

Game 2

* Behrend played their second game on Friday against Utica, winning 12-6
* Wood and JoJo Gager (Holland, MI / West Ottawa) each tallied three goals for the offense along with two steals and two assists
* Remy De Guzman (Mission Viejo, CA / Trabuco Hills) chipped in two goals and three assists
* The remaining goals were scored by Jeffreys (1), McClure (1), Angela Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) (1), and Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) (1)
* Robie had eight saves in goal
