Lions Fall to Salem, Wittenberg at W&J Invite

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team completed the two-day Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

Wittenberg 26, Penn State Behrend 7

Game 1

* Behrend fell to Salem in the first game of the day, 25-8
* The Tigers outscored the Lions 6-2 in the first period, a deficit Behrend was unable to overcome.
* Shannon Young (Roseville, CA/Roseville) scored four goals as well as dishing out one assist
* Lauren O'Brien (San Ramon, CA/California) registered her first collegiate goal, scoring three against Salem
* Chloe Dodgen (Riverside, CA/Hillcrest) and Kayla Scarpaci (Cypress, TX/Langham Creek) split the game in goal with Dodgen tallying five saves and Scarpaci one 

Game 2

* Wittenberg took down the Lions in the final game of the tournament, 26-7
* Behrend was able to stay in the game after being down 6-3 at the end of first period but were held to one goal in each the second and third quarter
* Young and O'Brien each tallied two goals to to continue their scoring streak
* Carson Hagood (Orlando, FL/Bishop Moore Catholic), Emily McNaughton (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland), and Daniella Rios (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Sagrados Corazones) scored one goal a piece
