Lions Fall in Day One of CWPA Regional

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team fell to Austin and Gannon today in day one of the CWPA Regional Tournament 3.

Game 1
* Behrend fell to Austin in game one, 17-4
* The Lions fell behind 5-1 after the first period and were down 12-3 by halftime
* Shannon Young (Roseville, CA/Roseville) scored three of the teams four goals
* Hope Nuzback (Erie, PA/McDowell) tallied one goal and one assist
* Brooklynn Mocny (Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead) chipped in two assists
* Chloe Dodgen (Riverside, CA/Hillcrest) played the complete game in goal, registering 10 saves
* Austin was led by Sophie Oliver with five goals
* Valery Piachonkina received the win in net 

Game 2
* The Knights took down Behrend in game two, 15-4
* The Lions scored one goal in each quarter but were not able to keep up with Gannon's offensive attack
* Angela Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) scored two goals with Young and Mocny each contributing one
* Dodgen played another complete game, tallying six saves and two steals
* Julia Kreidinger and Nicole Wiemken led Gannon with three goals each

* Penn State Behrend returns to action tomorrow at the Junker Center pool. The Lions take on Grove City at 2:30 p.m. and Mercyhurst at 5 p.m.
