GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team lost to Carthage on Saturday to finish the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championships in eighth place.

Final Score: Carthage 13, Penn State Behrend 12

Key Moments:

* The Lions led 11-10 with just under seven minutes to play but surrendered three-straight tallies
* Behrend was unable to erase the deficit, netting their last goal as time expired, resulting in a one-goal loss to the Firebirds
* Shannon Young (Roseville, CA/Roseville) opened the scoring with Samantha Darrell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) potting her first of the game shortly after to give the Lions an early 2-0 advantage
* Behrend led almost the entirety of the first half, allowing the equalizer with 31 seconds left in the second quarter
* The two sides traded the next four goals prior to the Lions closing the third period with consecutive markers from Darrell and Brooklynn Mocny (Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead), taking a 10-8 lead into the final frame
