Women's Water Polo Picks Up First Victory of Season In Overtime At Caltech

PASADENA, Calif. - The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team earned a 15-14 win at Caltech in overtime for the team's first victory of the 2024 campaign.

Key Moments:

* On the powerplay with 25 seconds in the sixth overtime, freshman Calla Williams (Longwood, FL/Lyman) netted her first collegiate goal which was the eventual game-winner
Susie Carrillo (Fresno, CA/Clovis North Educational Center) led the way with a game-high eight points on five goals and three assists
* Marley Persch (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) (four goals) and Nic Darrell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) (two goals/two assists) each registered four points for Behrend, while Olivia Wright (Fairview, PA/Fairview) delivered two goals and an assist
* On the defensive side, Darrell also added three steals
Darragh Martin (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) and Dylan Scherping (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) each dished out a team-high two assists
* Freshman goalie Monica Villasenor (San Gabriel, CA/La Salle) finished with 12 saves to go along with a game-high seven steals
* As a team, Behrend registed a better shot percentage (.517) and powerplay percentage (.364) than the Beavers
