Women's Cross Country Runs Final Race Before AMCC Championships

Oberlin, Ohio - The Penn State Behrend women's cross country team finished in 19th place at the Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday.

Sophomore Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) continued to build on her strong season by leading the Lions with a 30th overall finish. Bertges paced Behrend with a time of 23:22.

Zofia Stark (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) also placed in the top 100 with a time of 24:43.  Katie Patterson (Erie, PA/Villa Maria) finished just behind Stark with a time of 24:51 to earn a 105th place finish.

A total of 282 runners competed in the 6K race.  For Behrend, it was the second 6K race of the season as they started with three 5K races.  Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) and Carrie Chelich (Hobart, IN/Hobart) rouned out the top five for the Lions.  Huges finsihed with a time of 25:04 with Chelich clocking in at 26:39. 

Behrend will be back in action on October 29th for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championships at Grand Island, NY.  Start time is 11 a.m.
