Women’s Cross Country Results
The Penn State Behrend women’s cross country team participated in the Dickinson Long and Short Invitational on Saturday morning.
CARLISLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's cross country team participated in the Dickinson Long and Short Invitational on Saturday morning.
The invitational consisted of a long, 6K, race and a short, 4K, race with team scores combined.
Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) paced the Lions with a 23rd place finish at 24:30.7. Katie Patterson (Erie, PA/Villa Maria) was also in the top-50 with a time of 25:22.2 for 45th place.
Danielle Stanko (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) took 86th after crossing the finish line at 26:20.0. Katie Manno (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Miranda Boatman (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) rounded out the Behrend top-five. Manno took 138th place with Boatman taking 150th place. The duo finished with times of 28:10.0 and 28:32.6 respectively.
The Lions had dominate performances in the short race with all four runners placing in the top-30.
Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton), Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven), and Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) all ran the 4K in under 16 minutes. Hughes placed ninth at 15:49.4 to lead the pack. Harwood took 10th with a time of 15:51.7. Spade crossed the line at 15:56.2 for 12th place. Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) took 27th place, finishing in 16:39.0.
With the two race scores combined, Behrend finished third out of 14 teams.
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow at the Mt. Aloysius Invitational at 10:30 a.m. Behrend will be preparing for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) meet hosted by Mt. Aloysius on October 27.
