Women’s Cross Country Wins AMCC Championship
The Penn State Behrend women’s cross country team won their fourth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship on Saturday morning.
CRESSON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's cross country team won their fourth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship on Saturday morning.
The Lions had seven runners in the top-10 to end a four-year title reign by Franciscan.
Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) paced Behrend with a time of 23:53.5 for second place. Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) finished in fourth place at 24:15.5.
First-year runner Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) ran well, bringing home sixth place. Harwood crossed the finish line in 24:31.9. Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) finished in seventh place with a time of 24:50.2. Rounding out the top-five for the Lions was Danielle Stanko (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown). Stanko was the top freshman runner, placing eighth with a time of 25:04.0.
The top-five Behrend runners all earned First-Team All-AMCC honors. Katie Patterson (Erie, PA/Villa Maria) and Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) earned first-team accolades as well. Patterson took ninth place at 25:14.8 while Szramowski came in at 25:48.9 for 10th place.
The Lions will be back in action on November 10th at the NCAA Mideast Regional. Start time is set for 11 a.m.
