Carr Prepares for NCAA Championship

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend women's cross country runner Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) will compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships at Principia College North Farm Cross Country Course on Saturday.

This announcement is a long line of honors for Carr in her young career, who finished in seventh place in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Mideast Regional to earn the best finish by a female cross country runner at the NCAA Regionals in Penn State Behrend history. She is the second women's runner in program history to advance to the NCAA Championship since Catie Bertges in 2013.

The Behrend freshman was a four-time Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) runner of the week, two-time Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North Division III Rookie of the Week, and was named AMCC Runner of the Year following her first place finish at the conference championship meet. She has five top-ten finishes thus far in 2017, including two race victories.

Carr was one of just seven runners from the NCAA Mideast Regional to automatically qualify for the national meet. She will now travel to Elsah, Illinois for the Division III National Championship on Saturday, November 18. The race will get underway at 1:15 p.m.
