Trio of Behrend Athletes Garner Conference Weekly Honors

ERIE, Pa. – Three Penn State Behrend student-athletes were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week.

Men's tennis junior Aidan Piazza (Fairview, PA/Fairview) only surrendered one set point over two matches to help the Lions pick up their first conference win of the season. He posted an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles and went on to collect a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 4 singles to claim conference Player of the Week.

Softball senior pitcher Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) threw a six-hit shutout for her fourth win of the season in game two against Marietta yesterday to earn Pitcher of the Week honors. She fanned six in the complete game effort, as the Lions went on to win 6-0.

Freshman baseball pitcher Colin Bolla (Fairview, PA/Fairview) secured his first win in his first collegiate start, tossing four shutout innings in a Behrend game one victory at Franciscan. He only surrendered three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts to notch AMCC Pitcher of the Week.

Behrend baseball plays its home opener this Wednesday against Fredonia, while softball and tennis will be on the road for their next contests.
