HOUGHTON, NY - The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team placed sixth out of eight teams at the season-opening Houghton Invitational on Thursday night.

Key Moments:

* Behrend had the top three runners within seconds of each other at the finish
* Senior Nick Temel (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut) was the leader for the Lions
* Temel ran 16:59.99 for the 5K to place 38th overall
* Behind Temel was senior Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley )
* Domencic clocked in at 17:01.81, less than two seconds behind the team lead for 40th  
* Domencic registered an impressive time despite losing his shoe ¼ mile into the race, completing the course partially barefoot
* Sophomore Bennett Kerr (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) was on the heels of Domencic, placing 41st with a time of 17:02.29
