Penn State Behrend senior standout Julie Koman (McKees Rocks/Montour) was tabbed to the ESPN The Magazine All-District Academic All-America Third team.

Koman, who boasts a 3.71 GPA in marketing, was previously named Behrend's 2009 Female Athlete of the Year and the AMCC Pitcher of the Year.  She was also honored as a four-year member of the AMCC All-Academic team and a two-year member of the Chi Sigma Alpha National Student-Athlete Honor Society.

The softball program registered the most successful four-year run in the program's history with Koman on the mound. The team won three league titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in three of her four seasons on the bump. Koman is the keeper of the all-time pitching statistical records (wins, strike-outs, appearances, complete games, innings, etc.) at Behrend.

This past season Behrend logged a 33-8 record while winning the AMCC regular season and conference tournament titles as Koman posted a 16-2 mound mark with a miniscule 1.38 ERA.
