WHEELING, WV. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field program had an excellent open to their 2011 outdoor season setting a few records at the Bill Van Horne Invitational hosted by Wheeling Jesuit, Saturday.
Victoria Harwood dismantled the previously held pole-vault record (10'0") by clearing 11'6" to earn first place honors and an early ECAC qualification. Harwood wasn't done yet. The sophomore returned to the 4x400m relay to run the opening leg. Harwood teamed up with Jenna Fatica, Katie Spade and Mandy Wehrle to run the second-best time in program history, 4:08.43.
Katie Monoskey was another big winner on the day. Monoskey threw the hammer a record-setting 41.67m.
The Penn State Behrend track and field program will head to the Washington & Jefferson Invitational for their next meet on April 2.
