PITTSBURGH, Pa – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team placed third at the Quad Meet Invitational, Saturday, hosted by Carnegie Mellon.
Breeann Dickey started the day off for the women in the javelin throw placing third with a 34.81m toss. Katie Monoskey was next up. The junior hurler broke her own record with a 41.86m mark in the hammer throw to win the event. Monoskey wasn't done yet, she finished second in the discus throw reaching 35.63m.
Victoria Harwood placed second in the pole vault competition. Her best was 10' 2". Harwood returned alongside Jenna Fatica, Amanda Wehrle, and Katie Spade in the 4x400 (4:06.61) to break the previous school record by less than one second.
In other running events, Fatica took the 800m race with a time of 2:19.89, while Mandy Wehrle collected third in the 400m run (1:72.49).
The Lions had a couple more first-place finishes by Catie Bertges and Tanisha Wheatley. Bertges ran the 3000m race in 11:07.85 to take home top honors, while Liz Keller clocked in seconds later at 11:21.92 to earn fourth place. Wheatley won the 3000m steeple chase completing the challenging course in 11:57.53 (school record).
