Lions Defeat Gordon; Fall to Ithaca at Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team finished the Brockport Tournament with a 2-2 record, defeating Gordon 3-1 and then falling to Ithaca 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (2-2) posted a 25-21, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-14 decision over Gordon. Behrend took the first two sets, before surrendering the third and then winning the fourth set in dominating fashion.

Amanda Henry (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) hit .440 for the Lions behind 15 kills on 25 attempts with four errors. Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) also hit the ball well, knocking down 14 kills with three errors for a .407 hitting percentage.

Defensively, Courtney Hopson (Erie, PA/McDowell) tallied 20 digs and Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) collected 47 assists in the first match. Lindsay Bean (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) led the team with five blocks.

In the second match, Ithaca tallied a 25-23, 25-11, 17-25, 25-17 victory over Behrend. Kylie McSwaney (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) tied her career best with 11 kills for a .429 hitting percentage. Hopson recorded 16 digs and three aces. Saunders finished the day with 77 assists, thanks to 30 against the Bombers.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday at Thiel. Match begins at 7 p.m.
