Hiram Too Much For Women's Volleyball

HIRAM, Ohio – Katie Barton hit .600 with 13 kills on 20 attempts with one error to lead Hiram past Penn State Behrend in non-conference women's volleyball action on Tuesday night.

The Terriers (7-3) registered double-digit kills in each set, while limiting the Lions (5-5) to just 20 kills on offense to earn a 25-14, 25-11 and 25-22 victory.

Courtney Hopson (Erie, PA/McDowell) led with 11 digs, while Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny Clarion Valley) tallied four kills and three aces on the night.

Hiram took an early and large lead in the first set, climbing to 16-4. Behrend was able to get 10 more points and get closer but, the Terriers secured a 25-14 decision.

The Terriers were near flawless as a team in the second set, hitting .500 with 19 kills on 32 attempts and three errors for a 25-11 win. The Lions took a 6-4 lead in the and once Hiram grabbed the lead back, Behrend kept the set within three points but fell in the third set, 25-22.

Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) tallied 15 assists on 20 kills for the Lions.

Behrend returns to action on Friday against Misericordia at the Susquehanna Hampton Inn Crusader Classic. Match begins at 5 p.m.
