Behrend Bowling Hosts Grapevine Classic; Set To Honor Two Seniors Saturday
The Penn State Behrend women's bowling team competes for the second time this season, hosting the 2024 Grapevine Bowling Classic this weekend at Eastland Bowl.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's bowling team competes for the second time this season, hosting the 2024 Grapevine Bowling Classic this weekend at Eastland Bowl. Seniors Sidney Batsa (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) and Katy Richardson (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) will be recognized on Saturday, prior to competition beginning.
Schedule of Events:
Saturday, Oct. 12: Five traditional game matches, 12:30 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 13: Four total pinfall baker games, 10 a.m.
Participating Teams:
* Penn State Behrend, Pitt-Bradford, Pitt-Greensburg, Hilbert, D'Youville, Daemen, Ursuline, and Saint Vincent

* The Lions opened the 2024-25 season at the Mercyhurst Invite this past weekend with five traditional matches and five baker matches
* Behrend went up against three schools ranked in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Preseason Poll this weekend: No. 12 Mount St. Mary's (D-All), No. 25 Niagara (D-All), and No. 7 William Smith (DII/DIII), while Mercyhurst received votes to be in the Division All top-25
* In the Lions team-high traditional score of 847 vs. Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, Batsa rolled a 197
* Chelsea Wayne (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) recorded the highest game score of the weekend with a 232 against Wright St.
* Other Lions to notch game highs were Emily Warren (Tarentum, PA/Deer Lakes) (210/200), Katy Richardson (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) (203), and Tegan Williams (Weirton, WV/Wellsburg) (189)
* Behrend's best baker score came against William Smith with an 878 to start Sunday, winning game four of the five-game baker match with a team-high 223
* The Lions were selected to finish fourth in the 2024-25 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Preseason Coaches' Poll
