The Super Bowl XLIII champions Pittsburgh Steelers basketball team will be playing at Penn State Behrend, Sunday April 19, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. The Steelers will be taking on the Behrend Community All-Star team. The event will be held in the Junker Center on the campus of Penn State Behrend.

Penn State Behrend men's basketball juniors Adam Kaiser (Erie/Cathedral Prep) and Adam Potter (Pittsburgh/Mt. Lebanon) were named to the AMCC All-Conference team for their play this season for the Behrend Lions. Kaiser was named to the first team while Potter was a second team selection. This marks the first time these players have been named to the All-Conference teams.

The Behrend Lions and the Bethany Bison entered the Junker Center for the second time this season, and the result was the same on Wednesday night as the Behrend Lions advanced to the ECAC semifinals with a 73-69 win. Each game came down to the final few possessions, but finished with blue and white on top, including the first meeting on November 21, a 71-66 Behrend win.
The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team secured the #4 seed for the ECAC South Men's Basketball Tournament and will host #5 Bethany (WV) on Wednesday, March 4 in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off in the Junker Center.

The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team secured the #2 seed for the AMCC tournament with a gutty 73-66 win over visiting Pitt-Bradford in front of 1,192 fans on Saturday, February 21. Before the game seniors Tom Newman (Girard/Northwestern) and Drew Seker (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) were honored for their outstanding careers at Behrend and each would play key roles in the victory.

The 2008-09 men's and women's basketball teams are nationally ranked among the top in Division III hoops. Both teams have enjoyed successful seasons so far and are looking to finish the season strong. Steals are hard to come by in a basketball game, but to the Behrend women's team, they seem to come pretty easy. In Division III basketball, they are currently number second in team steals at 17.0 spg. In the AMCC, they are ranked number one with almost three more steals per game than any of the other AMCC opponents.

The 2008-09 men's and women's basketball teams are nationally ranked among the top in Division III hoops. Both teams have enjoyed successful seasons so far and are looking to finish the season strong. On the mens side, the defense has been the backbone of the team. Their performance defensively has seen them climb to fourth nationally holding teams to 58.7 ppg.

It was a battle to stay atop the AMCC leaderboard as the Penn State Altoona Lions entered the Junker Center on Saturday February 7. The Behrend men would win their sixth straight game overall and sixth straight home game with a 77-60 victory in front of 876 fans.
After an overtime win in the first meeting the Behrend Lions took care of business in regulation coming away with a 81-59 win over the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday, February 4 in front of 494 fans at the Junker Center.
Penn State Behrend held on down the stretch to edge Frostburg State 75-71 on Saturday, January 24 in the Junker Center. Both teams started off the contest playing solid defense as neither team shot better than 39% from the floor in the first twenty minutes. A close first half ended with the blue and white ahead by three, 31-28.

Penn State Behrend's men's basketball squad picked up an important league win on Thursday night against the La Roche Redhawks in the Junker Center in front of 344 fans. Behrend's offense skipped along to a 5-0 start to begin the game and earned a well executed twenty-five point win. Now, Behrend, La Roche, Frostburg, and Medaille are all tied at 6-3 in the AMCC.

The Behrend Lions earned another league win at home on Saturday, January 17, with a 72-50 victory over the Franciscan Barons. With the win, Behrend etched a 5-2 mark at home and now has an identical mark in the very competitive AMCC.

The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team squared off in a big AMCC contest against Medaille College on Wednesday, January 14 at the Junker Center. The blue and white turned in another tremendous defensive effort to get the win 54-46 in front of 223 fans.

The Behrend Lions lost to the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats, 71-68, in the Junker Center on Saturday, December 13, in front of 621 fans. The blue and white opened the contest with an 8-0 run indicating that it might be a long day for the Bobcats,
Penn State Behrend improved to 3-2 on the season and opened AMCC play with a victory over visiting Mt. Aloysius 79-64 on Wednesday, November 3, in front of 583 fans at the Junker Center. Behrend found themselves behind 9-4 with fifteen minutes to go in the first half when senior Tom Newman (Girard/Northwestern) blocked a Mt. Aloysius shot that led to a layup to pull the Behrend Lions within three.

Saturday's Behrend Tournament Championship contest featured a pair of NCAA Tournament teams from last season in Penn State Behrend and St. Mary's. The Seahawks raced out to a 40-21 halftime lead and went on to capture the Behrend Tournament title with a 69-52 victory.
