The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team entered today's contest having won four of its last five games.
It did not take long for the blue and white to get on the
scoreboard in the Wednesday afternoon AMCC contest against the
Hilbert Hawks.
Behrend's Philip Broadus (Pittsburgh/Allderdice) was fouled hard
and awarded a penalty kick five minutes into the match. Broadus had
to leave the game, but sophomore Josh Teti (Mckeesport/Elizabeth
Foward) found the back of the net to put Behrend up 1-0, and Teti
was just getting started.
Teti then connected off a nice pass from Brian Bodnar
(Murrysville/Franklin Regional) at 30:23 to create a 2-0 gap.
Then sophomore forward Ryan Banks (Allison Park/Hampton) added
another goal off a sweet pass from Teti as the first half wound
down with Behrend holding a 3-0 advantage all the way to the finish
line.
With the victory, Behrend moved to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in the
conference, while Hilbert fell to 5-10 and 2-5 in the AMCC.
The blue and white will continue its home stand welcoming Penn
State Altoona (4-8-4, 4-2-1) to the Behrend Fields on Saturday,
October 22, at 3:00 p.m. Then on Wednesday, October 28, the
Medaille Mavericks (10-5, 6-0) will travel to Erie for another key
AMCC match-up.
