Men's Swimming and Diving Competes Twice This Weekend

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team will compete in a pair of dual meets this weekend. The Lions head to Chatham on Friday night at 6 p.m. and then face Alfred State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes

* The Behrend Lions take a 3-0 record into the weekend
* The Lions tallied a comeback victory against Westminster on Saturday (150-144)
* Behrend went 1-2 in the 200 IM and won the final relay to erase a 32-point deficit from diving
* Jake Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) was named the AMCC Swimmer of the Week
* Schmidt had four wins, including three individual and one relay against the Titans
* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) won the 200 IM and was first in the 200 free (1:40.26) while swimming a leg on the winning 200 medley relay
* Compton holds the fastest time in the AMCC in the 500 free and the 200 butterfly

Chatham News & Notes

* The Cougars enter the meet with an 0-2 overall record
* Chatham lost to Hiram (140-73) in the season opener, before falling to Penn State Altoona (115-52) last Saturday
* The Cougars roster features five swimmers: one junior, three sophomore and one freshman
* Last season, Chatham placed fifth at the PAC Championships and Karl Gangloff was the first individual to be named a PAC Champion

Alfred State News & Notes

* The Pioneers have defeated Buffalo State and Fredonia so far this season
* Alfred State is coming off a 165-28 victory over the Blue Devils on Oct. 15
* Last week, Luca Aldewereld was named AMCC Swimmer of the Week
* Aldewereld set a new Alfred State NCAA-era record in winning the 50 free (21.84) in the Pioneers victory over Fredonia
* Aldewereld was also part of the winning 200 free relay that set a new school record, winning 1:29.74
* Aldewereld holds the top time in the AMCC in the 50 free and is third in the 100 free (49.54)
