Behrend Swimming Takes Second at Oberlin Invite; Compton Breaks Records

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team placed second out of nine teams with a three-day score of 1112 at the Oberlin Invitational.

Key Moments:

* Alfred State came in first place with 1130.5 points to capture the invite, followed by Behrend in second and Baldwin Wallace in third (1007.5)
* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) set a new team and conference record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:52.85 for first place
* Jake Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) and James Connolly (Allentown, PA/Parkland) were 1-2 in the 1650 free
* Schmidt won in 16:56.41 with Connolly coming in three seconds later in 16:59.54
* In the men's 200 butterfly, Jacob Eshelman (Franklin, PA/Franklin) was runner up with a time of 2:09.29, while Jake Niziol (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold) came in seventh (2:16.11)
* Justin Heller (Franklin, PA/Rocky Grove) led Behrend in the 100 freestyle, taking eighth in 49.29
* Schmidt, Eshelman, Compton and Heller were the foursome who concluded the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:10.74
